Pick a passage of unknown prose and the supporting extracts. Discuss its meanings, themes and any other relevant texts you have encountered.

This answer can be broken down into two parts; the extracts themselves and the common themes within the genre. We can therefore plan the answer in a similar structure.1) The extracts-- The largest extract should be the body of your answer. What are the core themes? How are they being supported? What details counter-argue them?-- How are the supporting extracts similar and different? Do they follow the same themes in different ways, or are they completely opposing? Why is that relevant?-- What are your key points, phrases and thoughts?2) The genre-- What are the common themes of the genre? Can you name two texts within the same genre - and if yes, how do they help you understand the genre both as a whole and in relation to the extracts?-- What are common adaptations in the genre? Are there certain stereotypes which are played with or do they stay the same? Is there any historical context to these tropes being changed? In preparation for the exams, I would first ask you to write an exam answer (at the relevant stage) and a list of details regarding your curriculum. From there, using the relevant mark schemes and resources, we can create a revision plan - including exam practice - that follows a similar format to your assessments, formulating habits that allow you to reach your desired grade.
