Compare how two items/people are presented in a text.

This is a common question asked in CGSE English Language, that is to explain the presentation of people/items within a text and often to compare them. The first thing I would do would be to look for adjectives used to describe the object. These adjectives will be used for a purpose: to present a certain characteristic or impression of the object. These adjectives should be looked at closely, both the direct meaning and the connotations of how they describe the object. Secondly, it is helpful to look at verbs surrounding the object: the way in which something happens can be crucial to the presentation of the object. I would then move onto a number of other technicalities within the text and extract features such as sentence types, similes, idioms etc. All of these should, of course, be relevant to the objects being presented. Once I found these features, I would move onto the comparison part of the question, draw links - both similarities and differences - and use these to create a plan for the appropriate amount of paragraphs/points.
