Explain the use of the regular present subjunctive in French

The subjunctive mood is used in a variety of different circumstances. It’s important to remember that it is a mood, not a tense. This means it can be used in different tenses. First, let’s take a look at how to form it, before looking at examples of when and how it is used in the present tense. To form the subjunctive, take the ils/elles form of the verb in the present tense.Ils parlent .Remove the -ent. Then, add these endings: Je parle; Tu parles; Il/elle/on parle; Nous parlions; Vous parliez; Ils/elles parlent; But when is the subjunctive used? Certain expressions trigger the subjunctive. These often end in ‘que’. Some of the main groups of expressions that trigger the subjunctive are: Expressions of possibility: Il est possible qu’ils parlent; Expressions of necessity or obligation : Il faut que nous parlions Certain conjunctions: Bien qu’on parle, elle ne fait rien.
