Solve: 1/3 x = 1/2 x + (− 4)

(1/3)x=(1/2)x+(-4) (1/3)x=(1/2)x-4(1/3)x - (1/2x) = -4 (1/3)(x/1) - (1/2x)(x/1) = -4. => x/3 - x/2 = -4Find common denominator: here 62x/6 - 3x/6 = -4-x/6 = -4 -x = -24x = 24 Check: (1/3) * 24 = (1/2) * 24 + (- 4) 8 = 8
