What are the Key features of benzene?

  1. The electrons/ Pi bonds are delocalised2. It is made up of six Carbons in a ring with two rings of electon density above and below the plane of the ring.3. It has a lower electron density than alkenes with a similar structure (aka hexene) and phenol because of the delocalised system.4. It does not induce a dipole/ polarise many molecules because of it's lower electron density making it relatively inert.

0.28 g of a gaseous hydrocarbon was turned in excess oxygen. 0.88 g of carbon dioxide and 0.36 g of water were formed. The volume of 0.28 g of the hydrocarbon at 1.01 x10^5 Pa and 298 k is 123 cm^3. Work out the molecular formula of the hydrocarbon.
