How would you go about structuring a Personal Statement?

Firstly, it is always important to write a rough plan beforehand of all the things that you can potentially put into your Personal Statement.Once that is done, ensure that you have read the prospectus for the course that you are applying for.When writing your Personal Statement, it is more effective to demonstrate your interest in the subject by using concrete examples. Use examples of when you have gone the extra mile to facilitate your learning within that subject, i.e. further reading and research.Do not fall into the trap of picking a university course that covers topics you have previously studied. Your existing interest for the subject should be supported with your desire to know more and to broaden your learning, rather than just convenience.Use direct language. Explain the things that you have done, the skills you do have, the areas that you want to improve on. Do not use language that makes you appear unsure.Once this is done, guide your Personal Statement into your other interests and your other achievements. This is to ensure that you demonstrate having other key skills outside of your degree.
