Explain why it is important for a mammal to regulate its body temperature

The optimum temperature for enzymes in the body is around 37oC. If the body temperature falls below this temperature then enzymes will work too slowly for body process to occur fast enough the keep the mammal alive. Body temperature must also be maintained at 37oC so enzymes can work at their optimum and carry out processes quickly.
