1. Parabens are esters of 4-hydroxybenzoic acid (*structure*), give example of a paraben & draw other compound used to make it. 2. Suggest a possible use for parabens. 3. What type of hybridisation does the aromatic carbon adopt? 4. How do pi bonds form?

Eg. methyl/ethyl/propyl (etc.) paraben. Drawing of the alcohol used to make paraben. Possible uses: food preservative, cosmetic, or pharmaceutical use. The aromatic carbon atoms are sp2 hybridised. p orbitals bond side on/ p orbitals overlap sideways/ suitable diagram.
