To what extent can the findings of memory research be used to benefit society?

The findings of memory research can be used to benefit society as they can be applied to education systems. For example the Multi-Store Model can be used to inform teaching strategies. By knowing that one can hold a limited amount of information in the short-term memory, teachers can reduce the amount of content the cover in a lesson, allowing student to retain the information. However, this doesn't account for individual differences as some student rehearse information, yet it doesn't enter their long-term memory. The findings of memory research can be used to benefit society by being applied to real life tasks. The working-memory model explains how humans undergo the process of navigation. It is the visuo-spatial sketchpad that deals with visual and spatial information by observation, or by retrieval from the long-term memory. Lieberman critiques this model noting that blind people have excellent spatial awareness even though they have never received any visual information. Evidently, visual and spatial information must be processed in separate stores.
