What is integration?

when integrating a function which describes a certain curve, the answer we get gives us the area under the curve. When integrating a general polynomial you simply add 1 to the power and divide by the new power. At the end of every inegration you add an integrating constant C.

f(x) is defined by f(x) = 3*x^3 + 2*x^2 - 7*x + 2. Find f(1).

Using the trigonometric identity (sinx)^2 + (cosx)^2 = 1, show that (secx)^2 = (tanx)^2 + 1 is also a trigonometric identity.
