What’s the difference between pero and sino?

pero always means ‘but’.sino is often used after a negative, in ‘not this but that’ type sentences. Sino can also mean ‘on the contrary’, ‘but rather’ or ‘but instead.’For example: En Sevilla, si se quiere no solo pasear, sino también empaparse del auténtico espíritu sevillano, el lugar perfecto es la calle Sierpes.No me digas adiós, sino hasta pronto.
