how to plan essay structure for any exam question

The best way you can prepare for the essay is to already have an idea of what you are going to be arguing for and against. This does not mean planning every possible question they could ask but instead requires you to know your argument for the set piece of literature and then use adapt this argument to any given question. In order to do this you must understand the literature well, know useful quotations off by heart, and be aware of relevant context to add in.A good essay requires context which should always be given in the introduction and then integrated and scattered throughout the essay. This context can be recycled across different essay questions and so you can learn the same information and use it to support any essay you write. This is the same for quotations which can be recycled to answer different questions- but ensure you know enough so they are relevant to the question and not too general. Finally, by knowing the outline of your argument and evidence to support it, plan a structure that could be moulded under exam times and conditions. During the tutor sessions this plan can be worked on.
