Discuss the cultural impact of the First World War

There was no major war in Europe in decades preceding the WW1, therefore until then, people's perception of wars was rather glorified. Before 1914 the majority of people believed, that the war could increase their living standards and their country's status. However, after the WW1, as this hope was not fulfilled even among victorious nations, the perception of wars has greatly changed. The First World War has also introduced cultural diversity within one society. Before the war, people of the same nation were more or less united in their ideals and believed that by behaving according to them they can achieve a better word. However, the war has disrupted the unity of their beliefs. The evidence of this can be found in the post-war emergence of many completely different political parties, ideologies or avant-gardes.
