Octane and isooctane can be separated in a laboratory. Name this technique and outline how they are separated.

Fractional distillation is used to separate a isooctane from a mixture of octane and isooctance. Isooctane has a lower boiling point, so reaches the top of the distillation column first, where it will cool and condendse to be collected.
