How would you structure a GCSE English Language Question?

For this, I would advise students to use the PEEL technique. This stands for POINT, EVIDENCE, EXPLANATION and LINK.So firstly, point. The student would make a point relating to the essay title. They would then use evidence from the text to support this. For example, if the student was analysing a speech, they’d say “The speaker uses tricolons throughout the speech ” and then they’d use examples of the tricolons to support their statement. They’d then explain this by saying “this is a useful rhetorical feature as it helps to highlight the point the speaker is trying to make. They’d then link this to the title, or perhaps if they had wider knowledge, some cross textual linking.
