4(3x-7) = 8

First multiply out the bracketsMultiply each component within the bracket by 4 (4 x 3x) + (4 x -7) = 812x - 28 = 8 Now you want to ensure you have the x's on their ownYou can eliminate the -28 by adding 28 to BOTH SIDES This leaves you with 12x = 36Now to get x alone you want to divide both sides by 12 This leaves you with x = 3 In order to check your answer you can substitute x = 3 back into the equation and see if it adds up correctly
