What is the relationship between K and ΔS total?

ΔStotal=RlnK

This equation means that if ΔStotal is large and positive then K is large (much greater than 1) and the position of equilibrium is well to the right (due to the equation ΔStotal = ΔSsystem - ΔH/T).

If ΔStotal is large and negative then K is small (much smaller than 1).

State the reagents and conditions for the formation of an aldehyde, starting from a primary-alcohol.

At 25 °C, the initial rate of reaction is 3.1 × 10−3 mol dm−3 s−1 when the initial concentration of C is 0.48 mol dm−3 and the initial concentration of D is 0.23 mol dm−3 . Calculate a value for the rate constant at this T when rate = k [C][D].

What is the difference between an aldehyde and a ketone, and what type of molecule can they each be reduced to?
