Difference between ser and estar?

Compared to English, in Spanish we can say things in different ways. A core part of the language of Spanish is the difference between "ser" and "estar". Normally, both mean "to be" but each is used in different scenarios. "soy" is used for permanent things or for description, characteristics, occupations, origins. For example: Ella es de Canadá.  She is from Canada.

On the other hand, "estar" is used for temporary things, location, feelings, state, condition. For example: Ella está en la casa.  She is in the house
