How are inequalities between countries within the EU targeted?

The EU has 3 main policies, among many, that try to even out its inequalities. The Common Agricultural Policy attempts to give farmers good standards of living whilst ensuring they are looking after the environment. Structural funds target regions whose GDP is less than 75% of the EU average. This money is used for infrastructure projects such as roads. The European Regional Development aids deprived areas, calculated using unemployment figures, by encouraging environmentally and socially sustainable economic growth. e.g. Urban II fund
