Define the terms CU and ALU and briefly explain their roles in the CPU.

The two terms are acronyms for "Control Unit" and "Arithmetic and Logic Unit". The ALU handles all arithmetic operations (for example, addition) and all logical operations (for example, comparing numbers). The Control Unit interprets instructions and is responsible for their timing and that they are executed.
