What is the difference between mitosis and meiosis?

Mitosis contains 1 division cycle, meiosis - 2. Independent assortment, synapsis and crossing over occur only in meiosis. The outcome of mitosis is 2 diploid cells, meiosis - 4 haploid cells. Mitosis produces body cells, meiosis - sex cells.
