Three forces (4i + 7j)N, (pi +5j)N and (-8i+qj) N act on a particle of mass 5 kg to produce an acceleration of (2i - j) m s 2 . No other forces act on the particle. Find the resultant force acting on the particle in terms of p and q. THEN find p and Q

Three forces : (4i + 7j)N , (pi +5j)N , (-8i+qj) N Mass = 5 kg acceleration = (2i - j) A.Collect like terms (4+p-8)i +(7+5+q)j = (-4+p...

When you integrate, why do you need to add a +C on the end?

Integration can be used to undo differentiation. So if you had an equation that was y=5x+2 and differentiated to get dy/dx=5. When you integrate it you would only get y=5x, so the +2 is lost, to make sure...

3(a+4)=ac+5f. Rearrange to make a the subject.

3(a+4)=ac+5f

3a+12=ac+5f

3a-ac=5f-12

a(3-c)=5f-12

a= (5f-12)/(3-c)

1. The curve C has equation y = 3x^4 – 8x^3 – 3 (a) Find (i) d d y x (ii) d d 2 y x 2 (3) (b) Verify that C has a stationary point when x = 2 (2) (c) Determine the nature of this stationary point, giving a reason for your answer.

To differentiate use formula.

multiply factor by power then minus one from power (where x is invloved)

dy/dx = 12x^3 - 24x^2

d^2y/dx^2 = 36x^2 - 48x (this is just a further differenti...
