Webcam tutor Sophie tops popularity poll

This is from The Post

A BRISTOL student who tutors children for GSCE and A-levels across the internet has topped a popularity chart.

Sophie Valentine, 21, a second year undergraduate student of experimental psychology at Bristol University, is a leading tutor for MyTutor.

She gives lessons to her students in a “virtual classroom” using a webcam at her home in Redland.

Parents of secondary school children can choose from a number of student tutors studying at universities across the country and Sophie is leading the way, with a growing number of parents requesting her services for their children. She also has a 100 per cent feedback record.

Robert Grabiner, who set up MyTutor, said: “Sophie is currently our most popular student.

“I’m not surprised at all that this is the case because she is brilliant at explaining very complex issues in a simple way so that her ‘tutees’ understand them – so they make great progress. This is reflected in her terrific feedback.

“All our student tutors are selected not only on the basis of their academic achievements, but also on their communications skills, and Sophie is an example of this.”
