MyTutor

MyTutor: the next chapter

The MyTutor community has achieved some exciting milestones in the last academic year, culminating in a successful round of fundraising in May. The funding will help us give more pupils support in their school subjects and radically improve the site experience for those of you who already use MyTutor.

This year we have:

  • Delivered 100,000+ tutorials
  • Partnered with over 70 schools and universities
  • Started working with universities to help widen participation from disadvantaged pupils
  • Became one of the largest providers of work to university students in the UK

92% of pupils surveyed  hit or exceeded their grade targets following tuition with MyTutor, and nearly three quarters of the schools we worked with achieved record results in the subjects we were supporting. We look forward to seeing similar success from even more pupils this summer!

What’s next?

With our recent round of investment, we will continue to refine our product to ensure we keep delivering the best possible experience to you, our users. One enhancement, for example, will be introducing personality traits into our pupil-tutor matching process, to improve the learning experience and help build a strong rapport that delivers results.

We also want to give more people access to private tuition, as we believe all secondary school pupils should be benefiting from one-to-one support. By the end of 2018, we’ll be running support programmes in over 350 schools and by 2020 we’ll have delivered 2 million tutorials.

Commenting on the funding, our co-founder Bertie Hubbard says:

“After decades of improvements to our understanding of how we teach and learn, there’s a clear opportunity for technology to drive innovation in education. Parents and headteachers are clearly frustrated by the current state of the tuition industry, MyTutor is positioned to set a new standard.”

Thanks to you!

We’re immensely grateful to our community of parents, tutors, pupils and teachers for its loyalty and contributions to the journey so far, and hope you’ll come with us as we enter our next chapter.
