As we tiptoe closer to February 14th, shop windows fill with pink and red, florists get busy and restaurants bookings accumulate. The Season of Love is upon us. However, as delightful as it is to see couples holding hands in the park and whispering sweet nothings into each other’s ears, for those of us without a date, Valentine’s Day can get pretty blue.
But staying home alone is no way to live – it’s time to get out there and find a sweetheart. And what better way to impress the boys and girls than by demonstrating just how educated you are? It’s time get imaginative and draw on the huge knowledge base your school years have bestowed upon you, to come up with the best and most unique chat-up lines your date-to-be has ever heard (and probably ever will.)
We’ve come up with a few examples to get your creative juices flowing:
Chemistry
- “Are you made of Copper and Tellurium? ‘Cause you’re CuTe!”
- “If I was Mendeleev, I’d completely disregard the need to group elements with similar properties and put Iodine and Uranium side by side, so U and I can be together always”.
- “You shine brighter than potassium reacting with cold water”.
History
- “Quit Stalin and let me take you out to dinner”.
- “Like France to Germany, I surrender to your love”.
- “Ramses only had eight wives because he never met you”.
Maths
- “Like ex, my love for you is limitless”.
- “You’re sweeter than π”.
- “I think you’re turning me into √2, because I’m becoming irrational around you”.
Biology
- “Just like the mould on Alexander Fleming’s bread, you’ve grown on me”.
- “Whenever I am near you, I undergo anaerobic respiration because you take my breath away”.
- “Like cell body division does to the mitotic cycle, you complete me”.
English
- “If I was Big Brother, I’d never stop watching you”.
- “Call me Ishmael. I’ll call you tonight”.
- “I have Great Expectations of what we could be together”.
Physics
- “Unlike a radioactive substance, my love for you will never decay”.
- “If the force of gravity = mass x 9.8m/s2, you must be heavy ‘cause I’m attracted to you”.
- “You make my head spin like a loop of wire with an electric current running through it placed in a magnetic field”.
Geography
- “Are you global warming? ‘Cause you’re melting my heart”.
- “North, East, South, West… wherever I look I see you”.
- “You must be igneous ‘cause you’re rocking my world”.
Go out there and be confident. You’ve got chat-up lines to be proud of.
