The latest from MyTutor: Tutor Reps, school opportunities & more…

· April 28, 2021

Here’s your monthly update on what’s been going here at MyTutor HQ…💭

Introducing your Tutor Reps 🤝

We’ve had our first kick off session with your new Tutor Reps; Caps, Esmee, Shubham, Chey, Jake and Charlotte. They represent a bunch of different subjects, lengths of time on the platform, and work across a mixture of the schools and private side of MyTutor, and are currently going through all the insights you shared in our recent Tutor Survey!

We’ll be asking for feedback on how you think the trial is going throughout, so we can make it as valuable as possible – plus, we’ll be updating you in these newsletters with what comes out of our monthly sessions 👂

School opportunities & a new lesson space 🚀

We’re updating the way we notify you about school opportunities – it’ll mean the slots you’re offered will be more in line with the preferences you’ve set on your profile. The aim is to get more work to the tutors who want it, which is something you’ve all been asking for. We can’t wait for you to see the impact and will update you on how it’s going soon 🙌

And it’s not just the schools programme we’re working on – we’ve continued to roll out our new lesson space to more tutors on the parent-facing side of the platform, and collecting feedback to make it just right. We’re hoping to make it available for all private lessons within the next 6 weeks 🗓️

We’ve also been busy creating TikTok videos to help make more teens aware of MyTutor, and we’ve been getting some of your fellow tutors in the press.

How the pandemic has changed education 🌼

We conducted a survey with our parents and teens about how they feel the pandemic has changed education. The good news is 54% of teens enjoy online learning more than before the pandemic – so you can all give yourselves a pat on the back for the part you’ve played 👏

That said, 64% of parents feel their teen has developed learning gaps and 49% of teens have lost academic confidence, meaning the tuition and support you’re providing is more important than ever 💜

You can read our full article here to learn more about how many more schools are turning to tuition, and how parents and teens are increasingly more likely to tell their friends they have a tutor.

Tutor of the Month✨

Each month we shine the spotlight on a great review. This month we’re shouting out Ims!

“Ims has been a very valuable tutor to my 16 year old son in his GCSE year. She has helped him to fill the gaps in his education, motivated him to do more and specifically has helped to go from grades 3 to 4-5 predictive grades. Every week, my son didn’t mind at all his tutoring lessons, even though he was really opposed to the idea before he started! I couldn’t recommend Ims more. Thank you for all your support, Ims and good luck with the rest of your studies.”– Nathalie, Parent

…it could be you next time 👀

MyT’s Tutoring Tips 🎓

This month’s top tutoring tip comes from Megan, a History tutor on the platform. Check out her video all about how to boost your student’s confidence.
