How do I rearrange this equation for x? y=(x+2)/(3x-1) +2

First of all we must consider the fraction. To eliminate this we multiply both sides through by 3x-1. We then end up with y(3x-1)=(x+2)+2(3x-1). The next step is to expand out the brackets and collate terms, this gives 3xy-y=x+2+6x-2 and hence 3xy-7x=y. In order to make x the subject we have taken all terms which involve an x to one side, and keep all other terms on the other, we can as such take out a factor of x on the left hand side to give x(3y-7)=y. Now all we have to do is divide both sides by (3y-7) and we can conclude that x=y/(3y-7).
