How do I rearrange this equation for x? y=(x+2)/(3x-1) +2

First of all we must consider the fraction. To eliminate this we multiply both sides through by 3x-1. We then end up with y(3x-1)=(x+2)+2(3x-1). The next step is to expand out the brackets and collate terms, this gives 3xy-y=x+2+6x-2 and hence 3xy-7x=y. In order to make x the subject we have taken all terms which involve an x to one side, and keep all other terms on the other, we can as such take out a factor of x on the left hand side to give x(3y-7)=y. Now all we have to do is divide both sides by (3y-7) and we can conclude that x=y/(3y-7).

Solve 7(x-5)=25-3x

The equation of line L is y= 3x+2 and the equation of line M is 3y–9x+5=0. Show that these lines are parallel.

P has coordinates (3,4), Q has coordinate (a,b), a line perpendicular to PQ has equation 3x+2y=7. Find an expression for b in terms of a

write 2/(3+root(5)) in the form a + b*root(5), where a and b are rational numbers.
