Simplify 7h + 5k + h - 7k

Figure out which of the variables are like terms, i.e which variables are the same and can be combined together? 7h + 5k + h - 7k Here we've added h to 7h: 8h + 5k - 7k And then, taken 7k away from 5k: 8h + (-2k) However, the simplest way of writing this is: 8h2k adding a negative number is the same as taking away the positive.

Rectangle A has a length of 3y cm and a width of 2x cm. Rectangle B has a length of (y + 4)cm and a width of (x + 6)cm. Rectangle A has a perimeter of 94cm and Rectangle B has a perimeter of 56cm. Solve x and y and calculate the areas of each rectangle.

Using simultaneous equations find x & y. Equation A: 3x + 2y = 3 -y and Equation B: 5x + 3y = 6 + x
