Draw y=x^2+5

Draw y=x^2+5. Draw the axes. Y to the sky (Y axis is vertical) and X across (X axis is horizontal). Then breakdown the equation. Firstly what power is the x to? x^2 means that the graph will have a U shape. Usually this graph would cross at the coordinates (0,0), however the +5 at the end of the equation means that the graph would be moved up 5 units. The + means the graph is transformed upwards and the 5 signifies how far it is shifted. If there was a - the graph would be transformed downwards.
