How should you structure an A-level English Literature essay?

One way in which you could structure an essay would be with a diamond structure. This is when your answer begins with your point (your argument- clearly established at the beginning of the essay) progresses to go into depth (the widening of the diamond) before returning to your point again at the end of the essay. Drawing a diamond on your plan before writing an essay could help you to remember this. When returning to the point/ your argument at the end of an essay, you should be approaching it in the light of the depth you have gone into througout the essay. Therefore, the conclusion should not be the same as the introduction. Whilst both the introduction and conclusion highlight your main argument, the introduction establishes it and the conclusion shows how the bulk of your essay has proved it to be true.
