Explain the adaptations plants have to survive hot environments

Plants in hot environments have adaptations to their stomata. These are, having a lower density of stomata and also closing their stomata during the day, when it the environment is warmest. This reduces the water loss caused by evaporation and transpiration. They also store water in their leaves which ensures that they do not run out of water needed for photosynthesis. Also, the roots of plants in hot environments are short and often run close to the surface. This lets them take up more water from the soil as the soils are dry and only contain water at the surface.
