5x+3=2x+9 What is the value of x?

To solve this question you need to rearrange the equation to obtain an expression in the form ax=. Make sure that whatever you do the one side of the = sign, you must also do to the other side. Firstly, subtract 2x from both sides of the equation to obtain 3x+3=9. Then subtract 3 to achieve 3x=6. Finally, divide both sides by 3 to obtain the final answer of x=2. You can check your answer by substituting x=2 into the equation in the question to obtain 13=13.
