Expand and simplify (2x + 5) (3x - 2)

The importan thing to remember is that each part of both of the brackets must be multiplied by each part of the other bracket (the word 'expand' meaning multiply when the brackets are next to one another). So, firstly you multiply the 2x with the 3x making 6x^2. Then you multiply the 2x with the -2 making -4x. Then you multiply the 5 and the 3x to make 15x. Finally you multiply the 5 and the -2 making -10.

You're therefore left with 6x^2  -4x +15x -10 which is then simplified to 6x^2 +11x -10
