simplify 7(3y-5) - 2(10 + 4y)

Working on the left hand side of the expression, we have to distribute the 7 taking into consideration the negative sign. So, 7 multiplied by 3y= 21y and 7X-5= -35. Simplifying the right hand side, being careful of the negative sign, -2X10=-20 and -2X4y=-8y. The resulting equation is therefore 21y-35-20-8y. You can simplify this further by combining the y and the numbers together so the final equation will be 13y-55.
