Solve the following simultaneous equations: 3x + 2y = 16 2x + 3y = 14

Answer: x = 4, y = 2

Method: Eq 1) 3x + 2y = 16 Eq 2) 2x + 3y =14

             Eq 1 x 2) 6x + 4y = 32 Eq 2 x 3) 6x + 9y = 42

            New Eq 2 - New Eq 1) 5y = 10, so y = 2

             Sub y into Eq 1) 3x + 4 = 16, 3x = 12, so x = 4

factorise 2x^2 +10x

OCR, 2016, Higher Maths: Rationalise the denominator 1/(1+sqrt(3))

You are given a square which you are told has a total area of 100 squared centimetres. You are also told that one side of the square has dimension 4(3x + 2), and the other has dimension 8x - y. What are the values of x and y?

How do I factorise x^2 + 8x + 15?
