What is the difference between myosis and mitosis?

Mitosis is cell division of body cells, so is used for growth and repair. In mitosis, 2 genetically identical daughter cells are produced from the parent cell (so are exactly the same as the parent cell). Daughter cells produced in mitosis have 23 pairs of chromosomes - this is known as diploid. Meiosis is cell division of cells to produce gametes for sexual reproduction. In meiosis, there are 2 divisions and 4 genetically different cells are produced from the parent cell. The daughter cells produced in meiosis have half the number of chromosomes as a body cell (23) - this is known as haploid
