Name and briefly describe the function of three organelles possessed by a plant cell. State an organelle that is present in a plant cell but not in an animal cell.

Plant cells possess a membrane bound nucleus that acts as the control centre of a cell.  They also possess a vacuole which controls water balance in the cell.  The chloroplasts are the site of photosynthesis and so generate energy for the plant cell.

Animal cells do not possess chloroplasts.
