Describe and explain the trend of reactivity of group 2 metals with water

reactivity increases DOWN the group

Extra shells of electrons means there is increased shielding, and therefore atomic radii increases

even though nuclear charge increases, the extra shielding outweighs this and so overall nuclear attraction decreases 

these mean that it is easier to remove the 2 outer electrons
