How do humans regulate their body temperature?

The hypothalamus in the brain controls the body temperature.

If the temperature gets too high:
receptors in the hypothalamus detect the change.
the heat loss centre is stimulated causing 3 things:
vasodialation of blood vessels in skin.
increase in sweat production.
reduced metabolic rate.

If temperature gets too low:
receptors in the hypothalamus detect the change.
the heat gain centre is stimulated causing 3 things:
vasoconstriction of blood vessels in the skin.
shivering.
increase in metabolic rate.
