How should I struture my response to an essay question?

Any essay should have an Introduction, Conclusion and Thematic Sections in between where the main body of the essay will be. In the introduction you should lay out the Context of the question (perhaps aided by some historiography or interpretation) and proceed to define any terms; layout your essay's scope and structure before arriving at how you will structure your own argument. The thematic sections should use Point, Evidence and then Explain to explore 1) an initial argument 2) then a counter argument before you arrive at a balanced conclusion. The conclusion should come to an overall judgement based on a summary of your previous judgement and potentially even elaborate on where the question could lead next: what have historians missed here? Is there a different perspective that could be taken here?
