Do plants undergo photosynthesis or respiration?

That depends on whether there is light available. Plants are always respiring, day and night, as it provides them with the energy (in the form of ATP) required to survive. During the day however, when there is light available, plants also photosynthesize, creating 'food'/glucose which can be converted into energy when required.
