What is homeostasis and give an example

Homeostasis is the physiological process of maintaining a condition such as temperature or chemicals in a normal range despite changes that occur everyday in the body. Usually, this is regulated by hormones that detect and react to changes in the body.An example is maintaining blood glucose levels within normal range. This occurs with the secretion of glucagon and insulin hormones by the alpha and beta cells of the Islets of Langherans in the pancreas. When blood glucose is high, insulin is released into the blood stream and acts to bring glucose into cells (such as fats and muscles) in the form of glycogen, which lowers blood glucose. Conversely, glucagon is released when blood glucose is low, and causes the breakdown of glycogen back into glucose, to be released in the blood.
