How did Hitler come to power?

 Despite huge reorganisation within the Nazi Party between1924-28 there was very little forward steps taken. In the 1928 General Election the Nazis picked up jut 800,000 votes and were very much on the outskirts of German politics prompting the Interior Ministry to report, “This is a party that isn’t going anywhere.” Yet by 1932 the Nazis had become the largest party in the Reichstag and serious pressure was being put in President Hindenburg to make Hitler the Chancellor. The change in fortunes for the Nazi party must be mainly due to the impact of the Depression as it was undoubtedly the key turning point for the Nazis.
