Describe the stages of transcription

Transcription begins with DNA helicase unwinding the DNA into two seperate strands. As the DNA unwinds, RNA nucleotides form hydrogen bonds with their complementary base pairs. Uracil binds to adenine, and guanosine binds to cytosine. RNA polymerase binds to the gene promoter and begins forming phosphodiester bonds between the adjacent RNA nucleotides.Upon completion, the hydrogen bonds between the DNA and RNA strand break, freeing the newly formed mRNA.The mRNA may then exit the nucleus and enter into the cytoplasm, through a nuclear pore.
