Solve the following equation : x^2 + 2x +1 = 0

x2 + 2x +1=0x2 + x + x + 1 = 0x(x+1) + 1(x+1) = 0 ... factorise out to leave cmmon factorsfactorise out the common brackets...(x+1)(x+1) = 0 If two things multiplied together craete 0, one of the numbers has to be 0, therefore either x+1 = 0 or x+1=0 as the equations are the same we have something called a repeated root. therefore x = -1.
