Balance the following equation for the formation of magnesium chloride: Mg + HCl --> MgCl2 + H

Mg + 2HCl --> MgCl2 + H2
There are two chlorines in magnesium chloride so you put a two in front of the hydrochloric acid. This means that you need to put a 2 after the hydrogen gas.
