5 tins of soup have a total weight of 1750 grams. 4 tins of soup and 3 packets of soup have a total weight of 1490 grams. Work out the total weight of 3 tins of soup and 2 packets of soup.

5 tins of soup have a total weight of 1750 grams.
--> from this, we can calculate the total weight of 1 tin of soup, with 1750÷5 = 350 grams
4 tins of soup and 3 packets of soup have a total weight of 1490 grams.
--> now we know that 1 tin is 350 grams. To find out the weight of the packets, we need to deduct the weight of the 4 tins, thus 1490-4x350 = 90 grams
--> 90 grams is the weight of 3 packets of soup, thus 90÷3=30 grams is the weight of 1 packet.
Work out the total weight of 3 tins of soup and 2 packets of soup.
--> now we know the weight of 1 tin and one packet of soup, too, so we can make the equation:
--> 3x350 + 2x30 = 1110 grams
