Both plant and animal cells have cell membranes, cytoplasm, ribosomes, and nuclei. Unlike animal cells, plant cells contain chloroplasts and have a cell wall. Plant cells have 70S ribosomes whereas, animal cells contain 80s ribosomes. In both animal and plant cells, the cell membrane controls which molecules and ions are able to pass into and out of the cell. The nucleus contains the DNA (genetic material) and controls the cell's activities. The cell wall in plants maintains the cell's structure by preventing cell lysis and crenation.
