How do I factorise quadratic equations?

Take the example x+ 5x + 6.You need to think of 2 numbers that multiple together to make 6, and add together to make 5. Therefore in the brackets we need 2 and 3. As all the signs are positive in this example, the answer is: (x +3)(x+2)
