Solve x^2 = 4(x - 3)^2

Multiply out brackets
x2 = 4(x2 - 6x + 9)x2 = 4x2 - 24x + 36
Minus x2 from both sides 3x2 -24x + 36 = 0
Divide equation by 3x2 - 8x + 12 = 0
What 2 numbers add to make -8 and multiply to make 12? -6 and -2, so put these into the brackets(x - 2)(x - 6) = 0
One of the brackets must equal 0 sox - 2 = 0x = 2
x - 6 = 0x = 6
x = 2, 6
